Go to the "Downloads" section and grab your copy today! Release Notes. For all y'all Hyper-V 2012 R2 lovers, today I released two new GEN2 virtual appliances. They are based on the official Ubuntu 14.04 LTS X64 Desktop or Server. Both Operating Systems were deployed on new VHDX SCSI hdds. To deploy a new Virtual Machine: Simply download, extract and Import ("Action" -> "Import Virtual Machine") the appliance of your choice into your Microsoft "Hyper-V 2012 R2"-based Host . Full recipe. The Virtual Machine definitions are included in this release. Virtual Machine Details: VM configured as "Generation 2" VM. Virtual HDD Format: VHDX. VHDX Size (default): 127GB. VHDX Type: Dynamic. CPUs = 1. Startup RAM = 2048 MB, now configured as "Dynamic". Network Adapter interface unconfigured (ie. you'll have to manually add one). Login with User Name = "user" and Password = "p@ssw0rd" (without double quotes). Virtual Appliances location: http://www.pwrusr.com/downloads No Easter eggs included! These virtual appliances consist of official "ubuntu-14.04-desktop-amd64.iso" & "ubuntu-14.04-server-amd64.iso" distros installed (respectively) into one Dynamic SCSI VHDX. The VMs were deployed on a new (ie. unpatched) Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter (with just the Hyper-V role enabled). Ubuntu was installed by selecting the default installer prompts. But please refer to the "setup-screenshots"-folder (included within each virtual appliance), for the steps taken. Still undecided if that's for you? The alternative is to build your own - In this case you'll have to download the full Ubuntu ISO image (~1GB), deploy your VM and install the OS on it. Official recommendations: 1.5GB (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TrustyTahr/ReleaseNotes/UbuntuGNOME) / Unofficial recommendation (by me): Min. 2 GB. - Does your CPU support Virtualization extensions? IF yes, did you enable VT-d on your BIOS? - Did you setup/enable swap? - Is RRAS running on your 2012R2?
